How do you find an inexpensive honest dentist? When I did have insurance it was still way too expensive and they do exrays an all and I didn't get my free cleaning at all, that they said I would. now I don't have any insurance and know what i need done, 2 dentist have given me an estimate that is so crazy over cost.   Where is a dentist that will let you pay in small payments and is very good and I would not be afraid of?

Raven Blanco was eight years old when she died shortly after she visited the dentist and received what the Virginia Board of Dentistry said was "three times the average range" of sedatives. Critics say the explosion of dentists treating young patients using sedation is fueled in part by the desire to increase profits by treating pediatric patients more quickly and efficiently by sedating them. This case happened in the Chesapeake, VA area:

Dental offices use sedation for children instead of holding them down to complete work. More children than you would think are petrified of the dentist. The sounds of the drill, the smells of cleaning supplies and the instruments used in dentistry can terrify anyone.

Sedation is a way of giving people the care that they need?

Tragic Results When Dental Care Is Out Of Reach

No one should die because of a toothache.

Millions of Americans are ending up in the emergency room instead of the dentists chair when they have problems with their teeth sometimes even when they have insurance.

So here is some no nonsense, straight talk advice to you and your family to save money and their mouth from BAD dentistry.

1. Shop around.

2. Check with the dental insurance company to see what your dentist is billing them.

3. Negotiate every procedure.

4. If it's expensive get a second opinion. You might just find that they are just trying to rip you off! If they are trying to steal money from you get the word out. Report them and work to shut them down.

Have you seen what some Doctors do to people on the show American Justice?

Is dishonest dentistry a trend? Have you noticed a decline in honesty?
Have you seen what some Doctors do to people on the show American Justice?

One show Includes a nurse suspected of killing babies in her hospital's pediatric intensive care unit; a doctor charged with nine counts of second degree murder; the owner of the "Personal Best" plastic surgery centers who was accused of allowing his chauffeur to perform medical duties and was hit with 212 malpractice suits.

Fight back against bad dentists!

Verify you need the treatment. A dentist may urge treatment that seems unusual or unneeded. Trust your instinct and delay the procedures until you verify you need them. For example, A dentist insists you need eight cavities drilled, and pressures you to do the drilling right away even though your teeth feel fine.

Get a second or third opinion. Visit two other dentists to confirm you need the treatments. Ask friends or colleagues for dentists they trust.

Check out, dentists. Search their name on Google! Call your state insurance department and state dental board. Was the dentist disciplined for wrongdoing? Currently, licensed? History of patient complaints?

Stay with your kids? Some dentists perform useless surgery on kids. Ask if you can stay in the treatment room to make sure your child is ok, the procedures are as painless as possible, and only the promised treatments are done. If the dentist asks that you not be present, find out why and make sure the explanation makes sense.

SAY NO to High-pressure sales tactics! If they sell unusually generous benefits at suspiciously low prices. Be especially careful if youre buying coverage as an individual or small business. Contact your state insurance department to ensure the plan is licensed in your state.

It's sad to think increased competition for a smaller and smaller consumer base may be driving dentists to dishonesty. Is dishonest dentistry a trend? Have you noticed a decline in honesty?

I don't ever visit a dentist unless someone I know has recommended them.

I have a good friend whose wife went for a visit because of one bad tooth. Drs Biery and Paulette of Harrisonburg VA they told her she had a lot of cavities, (20), that needed serious attention. They never showed her the X-Rays but told her if she would pay up front that day on a credit card, she would receive a $300.00 discount. Her husband had her go to another dentist for a second opinion - the second dentist informed her she only had one cavity.
Long story short, it took months to get his $2000.00 credit card payment refunded. The only reason he got it back was that he finally contacted the credit card company.

But even worse than that, I cringe to think that they would have drilled 19 cavities that didn't exist.

Most dentists are honest, ethical professionals who provide their patients with competent and caring treatment. A small but disturbing number of dentists, however, are dishonest. They exploit their position of authority to bilk trusting patients with useless treatment, and shady billing practices.
