We are so sad to see the businesses close in Shenandoah County VA. When we moved to Edinburg VA back in 1987 CE Thompson was one of our 1st cleaning accounts for our Cleaning Service that we called Valley Carpet Cleaning.
Business has changed so much since 1954.
The "Big box" stores have been springing up all over the USA for decades, as many "mom-and-pop" stores that once were plentiful have closed their doors. Take for example the smaller rural grocery stores they have disappeared from the landscape, unable to compete at cheaper prices.
The Sad Part is it's more then the character of the town.
